The Chairman of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC) Li Zhanshu held a round of talks with the Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives Hanafy Al Gebaly on Tuesday.
Both figures reviewed the 65-year-old Chinese-Egyptian diplomatic ties, in addition to discussing the development of the mutual ties between their countries.
During their virtual meeting, Zhanshu asserted that Egypt has a significant position in China's foreign policy as it is one of the key strategic partners for China.
Zhanshu highlighted that China always aims to enhance the bilateral cooperation with Egypt and strengthen this strategic partnership with Egypt.
The Chairman of the NPC touched upon the importance of mutual coordination between both states regarding common-interest regional and international issues and concerns. He praised the recent strategies of development that Egypt adapts which can help in widening the scope of the bilateral cooperation between both states.
In the same context, Zhanshu showed his country's readiness to help in establishing the ambitious "Belt and Road" initiative, in addition, he referred to the economic and social advantages of the project that will help Egypt and several developing countries in the region.
Regarding the bilateral ties between both legislative bodies, he called the Egyptian side for increasing the knowledge and experience exchange between the special committees, youth related-issues, and social development which would help in enhancing Egypt-China ties in the future.
On his side, Gebaly congratulated his Chinese counterpart for the 100th anniversary of establishing the Communist Party of China.
He asserted Egypt's will to boost the mutual cooperation with China especially in the light of the giant "Belt and Road" project.
In the same context, Gebaly praised China's success in controlling the outbreak of the COVID-19, referring to the importance of cooperating together in the field of competing pandemics.
Moreover, Gebaly confirmed Egypt's readiness and will to deepen the cooperation between both the Egyptian House of Representatives and the NPC for supporting and strengthening the strategic partnership between both countries.
