On Wednesday, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy handed over his country's flag to US congressmen after his speech in US Congress.

A broadcast features Zelenskyy handing over the flag to US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

According to the Ukrainian president, the flag came from the combat operations zone in Artyomovsk. In response, he received a box with a US flag.

“This (US) flag was flown over the Capitol today in honor of the president’s visit (Zelenskyy),” Pelosi announced as he held it up to cheers and applause.

Zelenskyy’s speech lasted for about 30 minutes and consisted largely of slogans about Washington's leadership and vows of Ukraine’s victory.

Before speaking at US Congress, the Ukrainian president, who is on a visit to the US at the invitation of his US counterpart, Joe Biden, met with the US leader and later with the leaders of party factions.

Zelenskyy traveled to Washington, D.C., on Wednesday as lawmakers prepare to pass an omnibus spending bill that includes $45 billion in additional security aid for Kyiv.

He told lawmakers in his congressional address that more security aid for his country would not be “charity” but would help defend democracy across the world.
