Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to supply Kyiv with warplanes and heavy weapons "as quickly as possible."

This came during talks held by Zelensky, Schultz, and Macron in Paris on Wednesday where the German Chancellor confirmed during the meeting that Germany will provide military support to Kyiv as long as it is necessary.

"We support Ukraine, and we have provided it with financial, humanitarian, and military support, heavy artillery, and air defense.

Scholz went on to say that Germany has recently supplied with Ukraine modern tanks.

He affirmed during a joint press that Berlin will continue to do so as long as it is required."

The meeting takes place before the EU summit in Brussels on Thursday.

On the other hand, Russia sent a protest note to NATO countries because of the supply of weapons to Ukraine.

Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, indicated that any shipment containing weapons to Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russia.

Lavrov confirmed that NATO countries are "playing with fire" by supplying weapons to Ukraine.
