Ukrainian President Zelensky said on Sunday, that the battles in eastern Donbass are difficult and painful, due to the Russian military offensive.
The Ukrainian mayor of Bakhmut, Oleksiy Riva, said that Russian forces are carrying out mass destruction operations in the city.
On Tuesday, the Kremlin renewed its position on Russia's willingness to enter into negotiations to end the conflict in Ukraine, but the new "reality" on the ground cannot be ignored.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that his country will never give up four Ukrainian regions that Moscow announced its annexation last year following referendums that Kyiv and Western countries criticized as a sham and had no legal basis.
Peskov added that Moscow is ready for negotiations if Kyiv accepts Russia’s control over these areas.
