Zambian Foreign Minister Stanley Kakubo announced his resignation after videos and documents spread on social media accusing him of being involved in business deals with a Chinese businessman.
According to Agence France-Presse, Kakubo, who has served as Minister of Foreign Affairs since September 2021, said in a letter that he resigned due to “malicious allegations regarding business dealings.”
Kakubo said that he resigned “in view of the issue currently circulating in the media regarding malicious allegations regarding a business deal between my private family company and our business partner, with whom we still have good relations.”
He added, "This decision aims to ensure that our government is not distracted from continuing to search for solutions to improve the lives of our people."
