Egyptian author and screenwriter Medhat El Adl announced on Saturday that he is set to run for Zamalek presidency.
Zamalek’s board and former president Mortada Mansour were suspended by the Ministry of Sports after some financial breaches were found and referred to the Egyptian Public Prosecution with investigations still ongoing.
They were replaced by a temporary committee led by former club board member and president of the Court of Appeal in Cairo Ahmed El-Bakry.
And lifelong fan of Zamalek Medhat El-Adl has revealed is set to run for Zamalek’s upcoming presidential elections.
“I will run for the elections when I am fully aware of all the club’s details. I would quit writing if I won the club’s presidency,” El-Adl said.
El-Adl is also set to face competition from ex-Zamalek board member Ahmed Soliman, who announced his run over a week ago.

Medhat Tawfeek al-Adl was born Mansoura (Delta of Egypt) in 1951. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in 1981 and worked for two years as a doctor.
He started his career in art in the mid 1980’s when he wrote the lyrics of a number of songs of Amr Diab’s film “Ice cream fi Gleem” for which he wrote the dialogue.
He also wrote the dialogue of a big number of films; “Amrika shikabika”, “Harb al-farawla”, “Qeshr al-bondok”, “Saeedy fel-game’a al-Amrikeyya”, “Short we fanella we cap”, “Walad we bent” and “Al-dealer”.
Medhat also prepared the script of a number of TV series; “Mahmoud al-Masry, “Al-andaleeb”, and “Kessat hobb”.
He is also the co-owner of El Adl Group for cinema production alongside his cousin Gamal El Adl.
