Egyptian actress, Yosra El Lozy was subjected to a severe backlash in the recent days after posting a photo featuring her pregnancy on Instagram.

The photo was taken during her pregnancy for a photo session in  November 2020 issue of vogue Arabia magazine.

El Lozy kept her silence over the past few days.

However, she came out of her silence on Saturday in a length phone-in with TV presenter Wael Al-Abrashi, stating that she refuses to respond to the criticism or address it.

She explained: "Bullying has become part of the general culture, and we get insulted even if we don't say anything, in feel that some people sit at home and don't have anything else to do except that. It's not pleasant, and it definitely causes stress at times,".

El Lozy added that the photo was a part of a photo session that she took in February while she was pregnant with her second child, Nadia, out of the desire to document "human and physical experiences" that she went through and loved.

She stated that her goal was to convey a different image from the stereotypical image that the media advertised about female actresses.

El Lozy stated that her intention was to convey a message different from the one that the media loves to send about female actresses, and causes anguish for women that all actresses remain thin and in the form of a model.

"When they see that the actress goes through all the things that they are going through, it will definitely offer them comfort, because I'm one of the women who suffer after pregnancy and losing weight isn't easy for me, and this is something normal," she added.

"Social media is supposed to bring the celebrities closer to the people who love them, so they are supposed to see all aspects of their personality." concluded El Lozy.
