CEO & President of the Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Gloria Guevara praised Tourism Minister Dr. Rania Al-Mashat's efforts in supporting the Egyptian tourism sector and showing the importance of this sector globally

Guevara also lauded Al-Mashat's consideration for the tourism sector as a driver of economic growth, job creation and social advancement across Egypt.

In a tweet by the WTTC, she said: "@RaniaAlMashat has recognised the power of our sector as a driver of economic growth, job creation and social advancement across Egypt” - @GGuevaraM, President & CEO, #WTTC."

These remarks came after posting the tourism minister's interview with Editor-in-Chief of Travel Weekly Magazine Arnie Weissmann on the sidelines of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) summit, held earlier in April in Seville, Spain.

During the event, WTTC president noted that the Egyptian government had shown real commitment to the recovery of the travel and tourism sector and put it as a priority.

It is worth noting that Al-Mashat was the first minister from the Middle East region to be awarded Global Champion Award at the 2019 Global Summit.

A statement released by the WTTC showed that the Egyptian tourism sector maintained its outstanding growth with a percentage of 16.3%, exceeding the global average of 3.9%.
