The General Assembly of the World Olympians Association (WOA) confirmed the membership of Palestine, on Thursday, among its three new state members.
The WOA said that confirming the latest new state members is part of the association to expand its global network.
According to an official statement of the WOA, "Each new National Olympian Association will receive full support from the WOA, including guidance from Development Officers who played a key role in helping these associations meet the membership criteria."
They will also have the right to apply for the annual WOA Development Grant and the Service to Society/Service to Olympians grants.
WOA President Joël Bouzou OLY said: “We are thrilled to welcome Grenada, Maldives, and Palestine to the WOA family. Their inclusion strengthens our community and allows us to spread the Olympic Values to even more regions around the world. Our thanks go out to the Executive Committee, the WOA team, the NOAs who voted, and our new members for their dedication and hard work.”
The new members will have the opportunity to participate in the upcoming WOA Extraordinary General Assembly in Lausanne, Switzerland in October.
