Who Will Save Mokattam Treasure?

A great religious treasure in Mokattam, the tombs of the Companions of the Prophet, located under the Mokattam Bridge.. you may be surprised by this news, but I watched this a year ago with my colleague Mahmoud Saad during a TV program.

My colleague Samuel Al-Ashay sent me the information, but surprisingly, no one focus on these places.

If these places were in any other country, tourism programs and plans for renovation and propaganda would have been established for them as archaeological tourist places. 

We have many treasures and we waste them either through negligence, or through forgetfulness, and I do not know why.

I call on the new Minister of Antiquities to visit these places, shed light on them, and give instructions to start renovation and place them on tourist maps, especially since he is Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, we need to carry out a renaissance for these shrines, especially since they are still unknown until now, neither on tourist maps, in cultural books,  tourist tours nor in the restoration plans of the Antiquities Authority..17 of the Companions including great companion Amr ibn al-Aas, the leader of the Islamic armies who conquered Egypt in 640, and founded the city of Fustat and made it the capital of Egypt, and built the Amr ibn al-Aas mosque, the first mosque in Africa, he is not buried in the place that we know, but buried under the Mokattam Mountain. This area includes the tombs of Dhul-Nun al-Misri, who not only studied the sciences of the Qur’an and hadith, to become one of the scholars of hadith, but he also studied chemistry and hieroglyphs “antiquities and inscriptions” and studied medicine. He left three books on chemistry. In addition, the tomb of the Arab Muslim saint and Sufi mystic, Rabia al-Adawiya, who lived in the second century AH and was famous for her righteousness, and worship.

And Muhammad bin Ali bin Abi Talib Al-Hashemi Al-Qurashi, brother of Al-Hassan and Al-Hussein and Sayyida Fatima Al-Hassan Al-Anwar, as she is the sister of Sayyida Nafisa. Uqba bin Amer Al-Juhani, a great companion, Who was the first to come with Amr bin Al-As from the Levant to Egypt, and he accompanied the Prophet in his departure and travels, he never left him. 

In the same place, Imam al-Shafi’i, al-Malik al-Adil, Qaytbay, the successors of the Mamluks, the Abbasids, the Fatimids, al-Maqrizi, Ibn Ata Allah, and Imam al-Shatibi were buried. It is a real treasure that the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities must rise up to uncover it.
