The World Health Organization (WHO) announced today (Saturday) that it participated in a joint United Nations mission to deliver medical supplies to Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza and assess the situation on the ground.
In a statement, the organization revealed that the team delivered medicines, surgical equipment, orthopedic surgical tools, anesthesia materials, and medications to the hospital, which is currently operating at minimal operational capacity.
It emphasized that the medical staff is working under extremely challenging conditions.
The organization highlighted that tens of thousands of displaced individuals within the hospital's premises need food, water, and shelter.
The statement further clarified that out of the 24 hospitals in northern Gaza before the start of the conflict, only four were partially or limitedly operational.
It urgently called for the rehabilitation of Al-Shifa Hospital to serve those besieged in a circle of death, destruction, hunger, and illness.
