Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud issued a series of orders on Sunday restructuring the Shura Council, the supreme court, and the Council of Senior Scholars.
Sheikh Abdallah Al-Sheikh has been appointed as the head of the Kingdom’s newly restricted Shura Council, while Dr. Hanan bint Abdulrahim bin Mutlaq Al-Ahmadi, Assistant Speaker of the Shura Council.
Al-Ahmadi was elevated to the third-highest position of the Shura Council and is now considered the first Saudi Arabian woman to serve in a leadership position in the Shura Council.
The new Shura Council will consist of 150 members and would serve for four years.
Who Is Saudi Arabia’s Assistant to Speaker of Shura Council?
She is an academic who specialized in economics and health management. Al-Ahmadi was one of the first women to be elected to the Shura Council seven years ago.
The Assistant Speaker holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from King Saud University, a Ph.D. in Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Master's degree in Health Care Management from the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
Al-Ahmadi is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Riyadh Economic Forum, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Management Association, an Editorial Board of the Journal of Public Administration and the Scientific Council of the Institute of Public Administration, and a Professor of Health Services Administration at the Institute of Public Administration in Saudi Arabia.
