On the occasion of the Mother’s Day, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi wrote a message to his mother who passed away in 2016.
“On Mother's Day, I address the most precious feelings of humanity to everyone who sacrificed, given and devoted, was a symbol of wisdom, patience, faith and giving, who struggled and was support and assistance,” Sisi posted on his social media platforms on Saturday.
He said, “To those whom we owe to her the good, love, mercy and tolerance that her children have gained from her. To my mother, whom I pray to God for forgiveness and mercy.”
“To every mother of the great women of Egypt, I address all of you with the highest verses of respect, appreciation and gratitude,” Sisi added.
Earlier in 2015, the Egyptian presidency announced in an official statement that Sisi's mother, Mrs. Soad Mohamed, passed away at Al-Galaa Military hospital in Cairo.
The funeral was held at Mushir Tantawi Mosque in New Cairo later that day.
Then-Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab cut short his visit to Luxor governorate and returned to Cairo to participate in the funeral, according to Al-Ahram’s Arabic website.

In a tweet, the first lady greeted all mothers on the occasion of Mother’s Day.
Every March the country have a series of events related to women in Egypt and the world; on March 8, Egypt celebrates the International Women's Day, commemorating the first meeting of the World Women's Democratic Union, and on March 16.
