In collaboration with the joint targeting hub, WFP and UNHCR are planning to launch a joint vulnerability assessment for the refugee community in Egypt.
For the first time, the assessment is implemented through a strategic collaboration with the Central Agency of Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
According to a statement released by WFP, the UN agency continues its emergency response efforts supporting approximately 150,000 refugees and crisis-affected populations, including Sudanese newcomers, with monthly cash assistance in Cairo, Alexandria, Aswan, and other cities.
WFP’s cash assistance platform was also made available to facilitate the delivery of assistance from UN sister agencies like UNICEF, IOM, and UNFPA.
WFP Egypt is distributing daily ready-to-eat (RTE) food rations to displaced populations from Sudan upon their arrival in Egypt at both border crossings, Argeen and Qustol, as well as at key transit points. Approximately 22,282 RTE food rations were distributed for May 2024 to 8,842 individuals.
