I express my appreciation to Egyptian archeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass, for his clear and firm stance on the Afrocentric issue. The ancient Egyptian civilization will remain a mystery that fascinates the world and attracts many to be a part of it. Recently, the Afrocentrist claims has emerged, announcing that they are the origin of the ancient Egyptian civilization and that they are the builders of the pyramids. They are trying to promote their false ideas in any way and means, the latest of which were when they were able to announce this from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir.
But Dr. Zahi Hawass, who is always keen on Egyptian history, civilization and antiquities, refuted all these claims during “On My Responsibility” program presented by TV host Ahmed Moussa on Sada El Balad satellite channel.
He said that these claims announced by an Afrocentric group inside the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir are baseless, the Black Kingdom of Kush ruled Egypt in 500 B.C., at the end of the Pharaonic civilization. When the Kingdom of Kush ruled Egypt, it did not leave any impact, it was the Egyptian civilization that influenced those people. Hawass stressed that there is an important fact they need to know: the depictions on Egyptian temples from the Old Kingdom to the end of the Late Period show the King of Egypt in front of him are captives from Africa, Libya, Syria, and Palestine. Hawass explained that the features of the Egyptian king are different and do not show any characteristics that prove he was Black. Hawass added that we are not against Africa at all, but we are against this group seek to announce false and baseless ideas. Hawass clarified that the Afrocentric movement aims to create confusion by spreading false and misleading information that the origin of Egyptian civilization is Africans.
I agree with the proposal of Dr. Ali Abu Dashish, Secretary General of the Zahi Hawass Foundation for Heritage Preservation, about organizing a conference to respond to those who spread false information about ancient Egyptian civilization and refute Afrocentric campaigns claims.
Well, we will always defend our civilization.. How many times have countries and peoples tried to steal our great history and attempted to attribute the building of the pyramids to anyone other than the great Egyptian Pharaohs?, they claimed that they descended from the sky and built the pyramids, others claimed the builders of the pyramids were Africans.
They are the Egyptians who were able to build a great civilization that the whole world talks about as it dates back to thousands of years, but it still maintains its greatness.
