US Department of State has announced that Washington doesn’t intend to lift sanctions on the Taliban ( an Afghani Islamist militant movement).
It is worth noting the movement seized Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan on August 15.
Ned Price, a spokesman for the Department, said that the Taliban today is still under the same sanctions and classifications as were yesterday.
He pointed out that the US administration classifies the movement as a terrorist organization.
Price added that this situation isn’t going to change in the near future.
He affirmed that alternating the stance towards the Taliban will be based on honoring the commitments made by the movement.
The White House (the US Presidency ) has revealed previously that lifting or strengthening the sanctions on the Taliban links to the behavior of the movement.
Price pointed out that Washington follows up thoroughly measurements taken by the Taliban in Afghanistan.
On the other hand, US President Joe Biden said that the evacuation operations in Afghanistan are an unexceptional success for the USA.
He indicated that his country spent $ 300 million a day during the period of the presence of the US forces in that country.
Biden went on to say that he did not think that the evacuation operation would be carried out more orderly than they were done.
He affirmed that these operations were completed despite all risks and difficulties.
US President affirmed that the US forces withdrew from Afghanistan after a futile war that lasted for twenty years.
He stressed that the presence in that country was squandering of the US national resources so he can’t go on that way.
Biden added that the US forces have faced more threats in Afghanistan since March until the starting of the evacuation operations.
He addressed the US citizens as the forces walked out of Afghanistan to save the lives of the Americans.
“The date of the withdrawal of Afghanistan was not set randomly because more escalation was the worst alternative”, he said.
