Swedish forward Viktor Gyökeres, the Arsenal striker and former Sporting CP star, has been crowned winner of the Müller Award for Best Striker in the World at the 2025 Ballon d’Or gala, hosted by France Football on Monday night in Paris.

Gyökeres earned the accolade after an outstanding 2024–2025 campaign, during which he scored 39 goals in the Portuguese league.

The Müller Award differs from the Golden Shoe, as it recognizes the outright top scorer by number of goals, while the Golden Shoe uses a weighted points system.

This season, Kylian Mbappé claimed the Golden Shoe after scoring 31 goals in La Liga with Real Madrid, where each goal was worth two points, compared with 1.5 points per goal in Portugal’s top flight.

The ceremony also saw Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, now at Manchester City and formerly of Paris Saint-Germain, win the Lev Yashin Award for Best Goalkeeper in the World. Spanish coach Luis Enrique of Paris Saint-Germain, who led his team to Champions League glory last season, received the Johan Cruyff Award for Best Coach. Rising star Lamine Yamal was named winner of the Kopa Trophy for Best Young Player in the World.

Meanwhile, Ousmane Dembélé was recognized for his historic season with PSG, having played a pivotal role in their five-trophy haul, Ligue 1, Coupe de France, Trophée des Champions, UEFA Champions League, and UEFA Super Cup.
