On Saturday, Egyptian prominent journalist Hany Raslan, an advisor to the Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies (ACPSS), passed away after he was infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) disease.
Raslan was also one of Egypt and the Arab world’s top experts in African affairs.
He has been admitted to hospital a week ago after contracting coronavirus. According to his colleagues and family members on Facebook, his condition deteriorated as he suffered already from kidney problems.
A number of journalists and writers working at Al-Ahram Foundation mourned over the death of Raslan, noting that he had died due to health complications caused by COVID-19.
They also asked ALLAH to grant him mercy and forgiveness, saying: Allah’s Mercy shall be given to our deceased and sincere condolences to his family and all his lovers... We belong to God and to Him we shall return.
