Many soldiers who previously served in the Israeli army defended the Palestinians amid the current war in the Gaza Strip, after witnessing during their military service a reality they had never experienced elsewhere.
When they were in military service, their primary mission was to secure the corridors and roads used by 850 settlers living in the Palestinian city of Hebron in the West Bank.
The veteran soldiers confirmed that they witnessed and participated in military operations that changed them greatly, noting that “cases of attacks on Palestinians and destruction of property have been the norm for years, but these incidents are still officially described as extreme and unique cases.”
These Israeli veteran soldiers ended their military service in the city of Hebron in the West Bank, during the second intifada that broke out in September 2000, and in March 2004, they founded an organization called “Breaking the Silence,” and decided to work through it as activists to end the Israeli occupation.
