Vaccination Campaign against Polio to Be Extended to Tomorrow

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, the Minister of Higher Education, and acting Minister of Health affairs, announced that the nationwide vaccination campaign against Polio will be extended to tomorrow, Thursday.

The Ministry of Health launched the campaign against polio on Sunday.

The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, said that this campaign is targeting strengthening children’s immunity against the virus, and keeping Egypt poliomyelitis-free.

Abdel Ghaffar added that all children between a day and five years old are included in the campaign, regardless of their nationality.

45 thousand medical troops are dedicated to the campaign across all of Egypt, alongside the primary medical teams of the ministry, and the staff of all governmental medical spots and administrations across the country.

On his side, Dr. Amr Qandil, the head of the Preventive Healthcare Sector, underscored that all medical teams will knock on the doors of all homes, and habitats in distant villages.

Moreover, they will check all targeted children in markets, major squares, bus and railway stations, underground stations, mosques, churches, and trade centers.

Qandil finalized that the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health agreed to facilitate the mission of the medical teams to vaccinate children in nurseries, schools, and kindergartens.
