John Kirby, spokesman for the US Defense Department (Pentagon), said the United States is in talks with other countries to provide Ukraine with “defensive capabilities that include long-range air defenses.”
In statements quoted by the American “CNN” news network, Kirby added that there are “active consultations” in this regard between the United States and allied countries at the present time.
Media reports revealed earlier that the United States is negotiating with Slovakia to provide Russian-made “S-300” air defense systems to Ukraine, but no agreement has been announced in this regard so far.
On the other hand, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin visited Slovakia and Bulgaria last week, after attending a meeting of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) defense ministers in Brussels.
