New US Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed his deep concern over the arrests in Myanmar, hours after the military announced the seizure of power and declared a state of emergency across the country.
Blinken called on the military leaders in Burma - using the former name of Myanmar - to release all government officials and civil society leaders, and to respect the will of people.
He also expressed his country’s support for the people of Burma, in their aspirations to achieve democracy, freedom, peace and development, ABC News reported.
