The United States, officially, will host the upcoming edition of the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025. It will be the first time for the tournament to feature 32 teams, FIFA announced on Friday.

Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Chelsea secured their places as they are the champions of the UEFA Champions League in the latest three editions. Also, Seattle Sounders will be featured in the tournament as they are the winners of the CONCACAF 2022.

Palmeiras (Brazil), Flamengo (Brazil), Monterrey (Mexico), Leon (Mexico), Al-Ahly (Egypt), Wydad Casablanca (Morocco), Urawa Red Diamonds (Japan) and Al Hilal (Saudi Arabia) were also qualified.

Earlier, FIFA announced that the basic qualification methodology for clubs was to win a continental championship in any of the four years from 2021 to 2024 in the five main confederations: Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America.

12 spots will be dedicated to Europe and 6 for South America.

CONCACAF, Asia, and Africa will be represented by four teams for each. One team only will represent Oceania and an entry for the hosts.
