The U.S. Senate failed to pass a funding plan that would provide billions of dollars in military and foreign aid to Ukraine and Israel.

Senator Chuck Schumer, leader of the Democratic majority in the Senate, pledged to hold a vote at a later date on adding the border security measures demanded by Republicans, in an attempt to obtain the sixty votes necessary to overcome the first procedural hurdle towards approving the aid package, but the Republican minority composed Of the 49 members of the 100-member Senate, they voted collectively against moving forward with Schumer’s proposal due to the Democratic administration’s failure to take measures to stop the flow of about 10,000 migrants who cross from Mexico into the United States every day.

US President Joe Biden warned Congress hours before the vote that if Russian President Vladimir Putin wins his war in Ukraine, his army will not stop at the borders of this country as it could go into a confrontation with NATO.

The White House had warned parliamentarians that the funds allocated to provide more aid to Ukraine would run out by the end of the year if Congress did not agree to allocate new funds to Kiev.
