The US police announced the arrest of 181 people protesting in central Washington against the abolition of constitutional guarantees of women's right to abortion, according to Russia Today, a Russian news channel.
Abortion advocates blocked the street in the district of the Supreme Court, which a week ago allowed states to self-regulate abortion-related cases, amounting to a blanket ban on such practices.
The Capitol Police, which is responsible for the security of the Supreme Court and US Congress (the Capitol), wrote on Twitter: "We have arrested 181 people because they block the intersection of Constitution Street, Northeast, and First Street, Northwest."
The conservative-dominated Supreme Court struck down constitutional guarantees of the right to terminate a pregnancy and allowed US states to regulate the practice themselves.
And half of the 50 states plan to ban or significantly restrict abortion in their territory.
