The US Central Command (Centcom) announced that the ship (General Frank S. Beeson) left Joint Base Langley-Eustis on its way to the eastern Mediterranean to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza by sea.

Centcom stated in a statement that the logistical support ship “Bison” left less than 36 hours after President Joe Biden announced that the United States would provide humanitarian aid to Gaza by sea.”

The statement added, "The ship carries the first equipment to establish a temporary dock to deliver vital humanitarian supplies."

US President Joe Biden had announced that the US army would establish a temporary dock on the Mediterranean coast in Gaza.

Biden revealed the plan during his State of the Union address to Congress after agreeing last week to airdrop US aid into Gaza.
