Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, articulated the U.S. government's firm support for the creation of a Palestinian state and its opposition to diminishing the Gaza Strip's land area, during a press briefing aired by Cairo News Channel. Miller stressed that these stances are contingent upon ensuring Israel's security.

Miller further emphasized the critical role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in providing essential services to the people of Gaza, highlighting the agency's significance in the region's humanitarian landscape.

The ongoing Israeli military action in Gaza, initiated on October 7th, has led to a humanitarian crisis, with thousands killed, tens of thousands injured, and extensive damage to the enclave's infrastructure. The healthcare system in Gaza, already under severe strain, has been pushed to the brink, particularly with the targeted destruction of approximately 108 ambulances and the partial operation of only 11 out of 36 hospitals.

Compounding the healthcare crisis, Israeli forces have reportedly raided most hospitals in Gaza, mistreating medical staff, displaced individuals, patients, and the wounded. Moreover, 34 healthcare workers have been reportedly detained.

These developments highlight the urgent need for international intervention to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and advance towards a peaceful resolution that upholds the rights of the Palestinian people and ensures regional security.
