The US Emergency Management Agency has urged coastal residents in Hawaii to evacuate immediately, following forecasts of a devastating tsunami.
The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency explained in a post on its official Twitter page that devastating tsunami waves are expected, noting that shelter areas have been provided for residents.
The post read: "Tsunami Warning Remains in Effect - Destructive Tsunami Expected... Tsunami Refuge Areas Available... Evacuate Coastal Areas in Primary Evacuation Area."
Earlier on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump urged residents of Hawaii, Alaska, and other areas to be vigilant and take safety measures following the earthquake in the Pacific Ocean, warning of a tsunami.
