The US Department of Commerce announced a new program on Monday that simplifies the export of artificial intelligence (AI) chips to the Middle East and other regions.
Under this initiative, data center users will be able to obtain AI chips without the need for individual licenses, streamlining the procurement process for companies in countries with stringent licensing requirements.
This program, known as the "Approved End User" initiative, is expected to benefit firms in the Middle East that require advanced semiconductor technology.
US exporters can now ship goods to these approved end users under a general license, eliminating the cumbersome process of securing separate licenses for each shipment.
A US official stated that the government will collaborate closely with both the applying data centers and the host governments to ensure the technology's safety and security.
