US Defense Secretary Contracts COVID-19

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced, on Sunday that he has contracted for COVID-19.

 

"I tested positive this morning for COVID-19. I requested the test today after exhibiting symptoms while at home on leave. My symptoms are mild, and I am following my physician's directions," US Defense Secretary tweeted.

He added that he is still carrying out all his duties as a defense secretary and will participate virtually in all key meetings and events, noting that his deputy, Kathleen Hicks, will represent him as appropriate in other matters.

 

It is worth mentioning that the highly infectious Omicron variant sweeps across the United States.
