US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel announced that US and Cuban officials will meet in Havana next week as part of a "law enforcement dialogue".
In a press conference, Patel that the meeting will take place within the framework of the dialogue between the two countries, and will witness discussion of issues of international law enforcement as well as increased international cooperation in the field of law enforcement.
He pointed added that the dialogue is an opportunity to enable Washington to better protect its citizens and bring criminals who cross borders to justice.
Moreover, Patel stressed that establishing channels for law enforcement cooperation does not come at the expense of serious human rights concerns in Cuba.
