US and China agree to resume military communications after summit


US President Joe Biden announced today, Thursday, the restoration of military communications between the United States, after a 4-hour summit between him and President Xi Jinping in San Francisco.

US President Joe Biden announced today, Thursday, the restoration of military communications between the United States, after a 4-hour summit between him and President Xi Jinping in San Francisco.

Biden said during a press conference following his meeting with the Chinese President: “We have returned to open military channels between China and America,” adding that stability and peace in the Taiwan Strait were discussed with Xi and that he stressed the importance of the one-China policy on Taiwan.

Biden added, "The talks with Xi were constructive and fruitful and an important step in our relations, and I do not expect any Chinese interference in the US presidential elections."

The US President stressed that open communications are an important issue for developing relations with China.
