Assistant Minister of Local Development: Egypt Invested EGP 1.5 Trillion to Develop Upper Egypt

Dr. Hisham El-Helbawy, Assistant Minister of Local Development for National Projects, said that since President El-Sisi took office in 2014 and until now, one trillion and 500 billion pounds have been spent on developing Upper Egypt in all sectors of life, noting that 342 villages have been developed within the frame of “Decent Life” Imitative in Upper Egypt.

Al-Helbawy added, during his hosting of the “Happening in Egypt” program aired on the “mbc Egypt” satellite channel, that 65.29 billion pounds is the volume of investments in Upper Egypt and the Red Sea projects.

He revealed that 92% of projects connecting drainage in cities, and that 40% of the population of Upper Egypt were suffering from Sanitary drainage was introduced during the era of President El-Sisi.

Al-Helbawy continued to say, that 1.14 billion is the volume of the total investments of the first phase of a Decent Life in 221 villages.

He pointed out that 3961 projects were established in Sohag and Qena Governorates from January 2018 until 2021/2022.

He indicated that periodic maintenance of roads prevents their collapse and makes them suitable for more than 20 years.
