The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) hailed the Egypt-brokered ceasefire between Palestine and Israel, that came into force on Friday.
"Security Council members welcomed the announcement of ceasefire and valued the important role played by Egypt, and other regional states," a statement read.
Moreover, the UNSC called for full adherence to the ceasefire, stressing the immediate need for humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian civilian population, particularly in Gaza.
