The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has been subjected to several Israeli attacks since the commencement of the ground operation in Lebanon at the end of last month.
The United Nations believes these attacks on its mission could constitute war crimes. Meanwhile, the Israeli Prime Minister asserts that "the time has come to expel UNIFIL from Hezbollah strongholds and combat zones."
Concurrently, Israel's Energy Minister, Eli Cohen, has dismissed UNIFIL as ineffective, claiming it has failed to protect Israeli citizens from attacks by Lebanese Hezbollah.
This raises questions about the extent to which Israeli politicians' increasingly sharp rhetoric toward the United Nations and the situation in Lebanon has escalated.
To discuss this and more, Adel Kastal will host a new episode of the debate program featuring Majid Bouden, President of the International Law Lawyers Association in Paris; Iyad Nasr, an expert in the law of armed conflict and warfare; and Edith Bar, a researcher specializing in the Arab world.
