UNICEF Praises Egypt's Great Attention to Children, Youth

Adele Khodr, UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa praised Egypt's great attention to children and youth. 

“Egypt is a key country in the region when it comes to achieving results for children, and we count on its leadership to promote children’s rights,” she said, adding that Egypt’s renewed commitment and keenness to place the interests of all children and youth in the country at the top of its priorities.

This came during her first 3-day visit to Cairo, since she assumed her position, to discuss the great efforts made for children and youth in the areas of health, nutrition, protection and social inclusion, early childhood development, and youth empowerment.

During her visit, Khodr held meetings with a number of Egyptian senior officials foremost of which, were International Cooperation Minister Dr. Rania AL-Mashat, Sports Minister Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Social Solidarity Minister Niveen Al-Qabaj, and others.

Moreover, Khodr valued Egypt's efforts regarding vaccination against COVID-19 and discussed with Egyptian officials the importance of ensuring that some key indicators related to children, such as routine immunization and education and learning, do not decline, as this will affect the general situation of children in the region.
