Millions of people are facing severe flood damage in West and Central Africa, UNHCR spokeswoman Olga Sarado warned.
She noted that the needs are growing for more than 3.4 million displaced people and their hosts in the face of recent devastating floods in Nigeria, Chad, Niger, Burkina Faso, Mali and Cameroon.
Sarado added that Nigeria is facing the worst floods in a decade, with hundreds dead, more than 1.3 million displaced and more than 2.8 million affected, according to United Nations estimates, while agricultural land and infrastructure were inundated in the host countries, forcing the population to migrate to higher areas there.
