The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) called for broader actions to protect children from the dangers of climate change.

The United Nations organization warned that more than 27 million children are at risk due to devastating floods that set records around the world.

The UNICEF indicated that the number of children affected by floods in Chad, Gambia, Pakistan, and northeastern Bangladesh is the highest in more than three decades.

According to the United Nations Information Center, UNICEF's warning comes with the activities of the COP27 Climate Conference, currently being held in Sharm El-Sheikh.

The United Nations agency said that the vast majority of the 27.7 million children affected by floods in 2022 are among the most vulnerable to repercussions of climate change.

Many children are exposed to threats including death by drowning, disease outbreaks, shortages of safe drinking water, malnutrition, disruption of education, and violence.
