Impunity reigns in the Gaza war, said Martin Griffiths, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs. He added that there may be a need for accountability.”

This came in statements to American media, as reported by the Turkish Anatolia News Agency, yesterday, Monday.

Griffiths described the military operations carried out by Israel in the southern Gaza Strip as disappointing.

He warned that there are no indications that these operations are more accurate than the ones carried out by the Israeli army in the northern Gaza Strip.”

Griffiths continued: "Despite the promises made by Israel not to bomb civilians, this did not happen in the south, and the bombing even increased."

The UN official also pointed out that the death toll from diseases in Gaza has reached several times the death toll from the Israeli bombing of the Strip, which is expected to rise once the rubble of the bombed buildings begins to be removed.
