The UN confirmed, Saturday that more than 350 Ukrainian civilians have been killed since the start of Russian military operations on the 24th of last Feb.
A monitoring mission of the Office of the United Nations High commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) reported that at least 351 civilians have been killed in Ukraine since the start of the Russian military operations there.
OHCHR added that 707 others were injured in the war in Ukraine, noting that the real numbers could be "much higher," according to Agence France-Presse.
The mission said the majority of civilian deaths and injuries occurred due to the use of explosive weapons with wide-area effect, including heavy artillery, multi-barrel missile launch systems, rocket-propelled grenades and airstrikes.
"The Office of the Higher Commissioner for Human Rights believes that the real numbers are much higher, especially in government-controlled territories and especially during the past few days with delays in receiving information from some locations where intense hostilities have taken place. While it has not yet been possible to establish the authenticity of many of them," the mission said, according to AFP.
OHCHR explained the allegations of hundreds of civilians killed and injured in Volnovakha have not yet been confirmed, as attempts are still underway to open a safe evacuation corridor.
The Russian military operations in Ukraine have caused also at least 1.3 million refugees to leave the country. The number is expected to rise by the beginning of next week to more than 1.5 million refugees.
The UN noted that the majority of the refugees are heading to Poland, as it is estimated that Warsaw has received about 700 thousand refugees from them.
