The World Food Program (WFP) said Wednesday that millions of hunger-stricken people in West Africa hadn’t gotten any aid. Meanwhile, the UN agency struggled to cope with the worst hunger problem that hit the region in a decade.
The WFP added in a statement circulated by the Associated Press (AP), a US news agency, half the number of 11.6 million people targeted by aid program throughout the season of drought from June to August have no kind of support.
The program warns that hundreds of thousands face the danger of either joining the armed groups or premature marriage over their struggle to survive.
However, the absence of food security in West and Middle Africa deeply affects somehow 47.2 million people during the season of drought this year when hunger culminates as women and children are the most vulnerable groups.
