The United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for the occupied Palestinian territory, Ramiz Alakbarov, stressed that "the world is watching with horror what is happening in the occupied Palestinian territories, where the situation is deteriorating to levels we have not witnessed in modern history," warning that the continuation of this path will lead to permanent conflict and deepen the occupation.
During his speech at the UN Security Council session on the Middle East and the Palestinian issue, Wednesday, Ramiz said that the people of Gaza are facing a devastating humanitarian catastrophe, with increasing civilian casualties, ongoing mass displacement, and intensified Israeli attacks.
He pointed out that since July 23, at least 2,553 Palestinians have been killed, including 271 who died while trying to obtain aid.
