The UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Libya Abdoulaye Bathily met with Khalifa Haftar, the commander of the Libyan army in the eastern city of Benghazi.
The meeting focused on relief efforts in the eastern region following devastating floods earlier this month.
Bathily emphasized the need for unified action and called on all stakeholders to work together to overcome the current crisis.
In a social media post, he praised the remarkable solidarity and unity shown by the Libyan people during these trying times. Bathily also urged efforts towards holding elections and consolidating national institutions to better address future challenges.
Bathily also stressed the necessity to grant full access to UN agencies and aid organizations working to alleviate the suffering of affected people.
