UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Tuesday that the Palestinian people must have the right to govern themselves, to chart their own future, and to live on their land in freedom and security, stressing that recovery from the war’s impact in the region is impossible without elminating the Israeli occupation and respecting international laws.
Guterres's remarks came during an emergency Arab summit in Cairo, which focused on developments in the Palestinian issue, particularly in Gaza.
“There must be irreversible steps now toward the realization of the two-State solution — before it’s too late, ” Guterres noted.
