At least 4,889 Ukrainian civilians have been killed and 6,263 others have been injured since the start of the Russian invasion, according to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).

In a statement, the UN office stated that most of the recorded civilian casualties resulted from the use of explosive weapons with a wide-area effect, including heavy artillery, multiple-launch missile systems, missile, and airstrikes.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister (FM) Sergey Lavrov stressed, on Monday, that Moscow will not set artificial timetables in order to complete its “special military operation”, launched in Ukraine on February 24, by Victory Day on May 9.

In press remarks, Lavrov reiterated that the operation aims to “ensure the safety of civilians and make sure that there are no threats from Ukraine to civilians and Russia,” adding that the operational pace depends on the need to mitigate risks for civilians and Russian troops.
