The Polish Border Guard Agency announced on Sunday, May 15th, that Poland has so far received three million and 383 thousand refugees fleeing from Ukraine, since the start of the Russian military operation, on February 24th.
The statement added that about 23 thousand Ukrainians crossed the Polish borders yesterday.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) announced on Thursday that
the number of Ukraine’s residents who fled the country since the beginning of the Russian military operation in the state has exceeded six million.
The latest refugee crisis is considered the worst in Europe since the end of the World War, according to the UNHCR.
Since the beginning of the Russian operations in Ukraine, more than eight million persons have been displaced within the borders of the European country, the latest report by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) revealed.
It is worth mentioning that the Russian-Ukrainian war took place a month ago, Thousands of soldiers from both sides were killed and millions have been displaced from the Ukrainian side.
