Oleg Radek, the advisor to the head of Lviv Regional State Administration in Western Ukraine, said from now on there will be no Russian-language teaching in the region.

Delo newspaper quoted the Ukrainian official as saying there were three schools in the Lviv region that teach the Russian language in the third and fourth grade, stressing that "from now on, there will be no Russia-language teaching in the Lviv region."

The widespread use of the Russian language has been prohibited in Ukraine since the coup of 2014 when the authorities established this at the legislative level.

Slavic language, where the Polish language and Polish literature are taught.

In the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, the press service of the city council announced, on July 1, a draft decision, which was planned, to ban the public use of any Russian-language cultural product in the capital, including books, performances, and concerts.

Previously, Ukraine’s parliamentarian Zheleznyak wrote on his Telegram channel that the parliament has banned the import and distribution of books and other publishing products from Russia, Belarus, and the temporarily occupied territory of the country.

On his part, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had mentioned earlier that the Ukrainian authorities have been pursuing an aggressive policy to get rid of everything that is Russian for many years.

Lavrov noted that Moscow wants to see Kyiv as a partner, without banning the Russian language and Russian culture.

Ukrainian MP and former director of the National Institute of Remembrance, Volodymyr Vyatrovych, hailed the new policy as “important steps towards the full decolonization of Ukraine”.

The lawmaker has long been among the proponents of such restrictions, with many considering Russian books the instrument of the “Ruskyi Mir” influence in Ukraine.
