Ukrainian authorities said Russia destroyed about 40 tons of grain in eastern Ukraine.
Valentyn Reznichenko, the Governor of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast wrote on Telegram on Wednesday, that a fire broke out in a grain warehouse in the city of Zelenodolsk, and it is clear that 40 tons of grain were destroyed.
The governor of the region gave Russia the responsibility for the outbreak of the fire, although this information could not be verified from an independent source.
Besides Russia, Ukraine is an important source of grain and fertilizer for many poor countries, especially in Africa.
On the other hand, the official Russian news, “TASS” reported that a ship carrying 7,000 tons of grain left the port of Berdyansk after waiting there for several months.
The destination of the shipment was not disclosed.
Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the United Nations announced more than once the danger of a food crisis in the world due to the lack of grain. The West accused Russia of obstructing Ukraine’s grain supply to world markets.
On its part, Moscow rejected these accusations completely. Nevertheless, the Kyiv authorities themselves put many obstacles in the way of exporting their grain.
In addition to burning the warehouses with grain in the port of Mariupol, the Ukrainian forces planted mines in the waters of the Black Sea, which impedes the transportation of grain to world markets by sea.
