Ukraine has received ammunition valued at €800 million from Serbia, which has been increasing its ammunition sales to Western countries.
These supplies have subsequently found their way to Ukraine through third-party nations.
According to the Ukrainian news agency (Ukrinform), since the start of the full-scale war, approximately €800 million worth of Serbian ammunition has entered Ukraine via third parties.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić confirmed this figure, describing the situation as a business opportunity.
Vučić emphasized that Serbia remains neutral in the Russia-Ukraine war and considers arms exports a vital part of its economic revival.
Vučić highlighted the importance of the arms trade for Serbia's economy. He noted that while Serbia cannot directly export ammunition to Ukraine or Russia, it has secured numerous contracts with the United States, Spain, the Czech Republic, and other countries.
Vučić stated that even if he knew the final destinations of the sold ammunition, it was not his concern, indicating that the €800 million worth of exports might have accumulated over two to three years.
Vučić emphasized his role in ensuring that Serbia deals with its ammunition legally and sells it appropriately, underscoring his responsibility to protect his people. He also mentioned that Serbia maintains friendly relations with both Kyiv and Moscow.
The Serbian president pointed out that Serbian weapons are more affordable compared to Western arms, which could lead to an increase in the volume of Serbian ammunition exports.
