Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister (FM) Mykola Tochytskyi said on Sunday that his country is seeking to hold a global "peace summit" this year after international representatives met in Malta at the beginning of the week to discuss the Kyiv's peace formula for its war with Russia, according to Reuters.
“This aim remains necessary and possible ... it has been demonstrated that there is interest in this,” Deputy Minister Mykola Tochytskyi told Reuters by phone shortly after concluding his meetings, adding that Heads of state and heads of government would attend the meeting.
Kyiv said that the Malta meeting on Saturday and Sunday was attended in person or online by representatives from 66 countries, an increase of more than 20 countries compared to a previous meeting on the same topic in the Saudi city of Jeddah in August. Russia does not participate in these talks.
